2020 Student Organizers
From Norwich, CT, Vincent is a transfer senior undergraduate Civil Engineering student who will be the 2020-2021 President of TEDxUConn. He joined TEDxUConn at the start of the Spring 2019 semester because he loves watching TED Talks and enjoys listening to new ideas presented by TED speakers. One of Vincent’s favorite hobbies is running. He will run miles on end to stay in shape and feel energized when workload and stress is high in college.
From Chatham NJ, Serena is a class of 2022 Computer Science and Engineering major minoring in Math and Spanish. Besides being involved in TEDxUConn, she is a member of the service group Honors Across State Borders (HASB), works as a physics tutor at the Q-Center on campus, and plays the violin in the UConn Symphony Orchestra. Serena can’t wait for the 2020 conference and is so excited to be the Treasurer for the 2020-2021 academic year.
Joanna Liang is a New England Scholar from Montville, CT pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering. She is a mentor for the Asian/Asian American Mentoring Program (AMP). Joanna joined TEDx because she felt inspired by TED talks and wished to play a role in organizing TEDx conferences at the University of Connecticut. She will be serving as Secretary for TEDxUConn from 2020-2021.
From Norwich, CT, Vivian Tang is pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Pathobiology in the College of Agriculture, Health, and Natural Resources. She is expecting to graduate in Spring 2021. She works as a student technician in the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory. Vivian joined TEDx because she loves to watch TED Talks in her free time.
Sucika is a sophomore from Acton, MA. She is a STEM Scholar pursuing her degree in Physiology and Neurobiology with a Bioinformatics minor. In the future, Sucika aspires to become a neurosurgeon after medical school or neuropsychological clinical researcher. Aside from school, she is a Children’s Rights intern for the Student Coalition for Human Rights, a Social Engagement leader for the STEM Scholar board, a PATH mentor, and a regional tutor coordinator/English tutor for young adults in Syrian refugees at Paper Airplanes.
Gwangsu (Ted) Choi
My name is Gwangsu Choi and I’m a junior in Management Information Systems major in the School of Business at UConn. My expected graduation date will be May 2021. I want to have a good last year with TEDxUConn members and hopefully finish Fall 2020 conference successfully as scheduled. Fun Fact: I’m a military veteran in South Korea.
Lili is a Communications and Psychology double-major from Fairfield County, CT. After doing her first freshman semester at the Stamford campus, she joined TedXUconn after her love for Ted Talks and their conceptual, enticing, randomized subject-speeches. Otherwise on campus, she is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta society, Psychology club, and is looking to work more with different Special Education programs on campus. She hopes to learn as much as possible about cognitive science. She loves Mac Miller, Drake, the Beatles, among many more. She also loves running, watching Mad Men, Entourage, and her favorite movie Good Will Hunting.
Hi! I am Will Roser, a student studying psychology in the class of ’22 from Hebron, Connecticut. I joined Tedx in order to have deep and knowledgeable conversation about a variety of interesting subjects, and work with speakers to make their talks shine. I enjoy the aquascaping hobby and rock climbing.
Grisela Luna Juarez
Grisela Luna is a New Haven Promise Scholar in the Neag School of Education. Grisela plans to graduate with her B.S. in Education in the Spring of 2022 and graduate with her Masters in Education in the Spring of 2023. She plans on earning her Connecticut teaching certification as well as bilingual endorsement.
